Muslim-Jewish Dialogue at Temple Kol Ami

On Friday, November 21st, at 7:30 p.m. Temple Kol Ami will host a very special Shabbat Worship Service. As part of a “Weekend of Twinning,” Rabbi Roman and Imam Mohammad Mardini will address prejudices and misconceptions and try to build an ongoing relationship of working together on issues of mutual concern. This “Weekend of Twinning” is under the sponsorship of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding in New York, the American Muslim Center of Dearborn, and Temple Kol Ami. At least 25 mosques and synagogues across North America will be joining together in a discussion on the theme: “Confronting Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism Together”.

In November, 2007, Imam Mohammad Mardini and Rabbi Norman T. Roman represented the Metropolitan Detroit community at a national seminar in New York City, at which the idea for this year’s programming was developed. Linking the need for mutual understanding and respect with the themes of the American Thanksgiving celebration, the participants agreed to initiate opportunities for congregations to learn about and with each other

This event is open to the public and your attendance is encouraged and welcomed. No RSVP is required, but you can call (248) 661-0040 for more information. Temple Kol Ami is located at 5085 Walnut Lake Road in West Bloomfield, on the South side of Walnut Lake, just West of Farmington.
